Energy monitoring and controlling system has greatly expanded in the last years in industrial plants. This paper concern with the opportunities that an energy monitoring and controlling system allows for maintenance activities. In particular this article aims to explore how the features of energy monitoring and control system allow to identify opportunities for maintenance actions and evaluate savings. This paper discusses the role of maintenance primarily as it relates to energy efficiency of equipment and then it focuses on implementation of energy monitoring and controlling system oriented to maintenance policies. As a result this paper concludes by a set of findings from research field relating to the different maintenance policies (corrective, preventive, on condition, proactive) that will lead energy savings

Abstract
