This paper presents a modelling system for goods movement in urban and metropolitan areas. It has been developed inside a general methodology to support the feasibility analysis for urban freight transport by railways and has been used to simulate the urban or metropolitan restocking of retail trade. The system of models is made of three different levels: quantity, delivery and vehicle. It allows us to estimate, for each considered freight type, the quantity moved, the deliveries and the vehicles used for restocking the shops inside the study area. Preliminary specification and calibration results have been presented on the basis of some surveys to retailers and carriers carried out in a metropolitan area.

Abstract
This paper presents a modelling system for goods movement in urban and metropolitan areas. It has been developed inside a general methodology to support the feasibility analysis for urban freight transport by railways and has been used to simulate the urban or metropolitan restocking of retail trade. The system of models is made of three different levels: quantity, delivery and vehicle. It allows us to estimate, for each considered freight type, the quantity moved, the deliveries and the vehicles used for restocking the shops inside the study area. Preliminary specification and calibration results have been presented on the basis of some surveys to retailers and carriers carried out in a metropolitan area.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
