The sonic holobiont refers to the sum of all possible sonic relationships and influences occurring in a defined soundscape, from micro- to macro-scopic scale. This concept becomes useful as a framework to tackle sonic complexities in the biosphere, but it especially invites us to reflect on the forms and possibility of sonic perception at a single-cell scale. How would sound feel like to a cell membrane, with no auditory encoding and decoding? In this presentation, Robin Morabito (LHÍ-MA Composition) introduces the paper written with researchers from Tor Vergata University in Rome that first proposed the sonic holobiont as a viable framework to tackle the intrinsic complexity of soundscapes in ecoacoustic studies.

Abstract
The sonic holobiont refers to the sum of all possible sonic relationships and influences occurring in a defined soundscape, from micro- to macro-scopic scale. This concept becomes useful as a framework to tackle sonic complexities in the biosphere, but it especially invites us to reflect on the forms and possibility of sonic perception at a single-cell scale. How would sound feel like to a cell membrane, with no auditory encoding and decoding? In this presentation, Robin Morabito (LHÍ-MA Composition) introduces the paper written with researchers from Tor Vergata University in Rome that first proposed the sonic holobiont as a viable framework to tackle the intrinsic complexity of soundscapes in ecoacoustic studies.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
