This study offers fresh insights into the life and musical career of Pietro Terziani (1763- 1831), drawing on newly examined archival materials and historiographical sources. By revisiting contemporary accounts and previously unexplored documents, it revises key biographical details – such as his birth year – and sheds light on the liturgical settings for which Terziani composed sacred music, particularly within Rome’s leading ecclesiastical institutions. The research also highlights the composer’s extensive professional network, developed during his prolonged stay in Vienna, and brings to attention an engraved portrait by Blasius Höfel, underscoring Terziani’s recognition within the European musical landscape of his time. Collectively, these findings contribute to a more nuanced understanding of Terziani’s artistic identity, the reception of his works, and his role in shaping musical life in Rome and beyond during the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries.

Abstract
Collectively, these findings contribute to a more nuanced understanding of Terziani’s artistic identity, the reception of his works, and his role in shaping musical life in Rome and beyond during the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
