In this paper a design solution for the synthesis of distributed matching networks to fulfil both fundamental and harmonic load conditions is presented. The proposed approach becomes suitable for the design of high frequency and high efficiency power amplifiers (PAs) based on harmonic tuning approaches [1]. Taking into account the fundamental frequency and its second and third harmonics, all the possible circuital solutions are examined, and for each available circuit solutions, synthesis formulae are outlined. Finally an example of the synthesis of a passive harmonic matching network is provided, comparing simulated behaviour with measurement results.
