The reconstruction of urban historic spaces following destructive events is made more difficult by the frequent loss of graphic documents, that are already limited in the case of small and less frequented towns. Among the little-known experiences that have affected the Italian territory, carriers of sugge-stions for those in progress, is the case under consideration: Lama dei Peligni, where the destruction, equal to 90%, caused by the events that occurred between 1933 and 1944 was followed by a slow decrease of possession of the historical identity due to the lack of information on the lost heritage. The loss of the places’ architectural memory and historicized identity has therefore constituted a fertile humus for the loss of local identity, the consequence of which today is the progressive abandonment of the town.Survey of memory indicates a methodology which, during the systematization phase, will also be adopted in the nine neighbouring towns, all with similar characteristics. This methodology offers the opportunity to compare the as it was with the current state and presents itself as an operation from which useful stimuli could arise to plan an economic recovery based on sustainable tourism principles. The operation was carried out following the perspective restitution method, developed on the basis of a limited photographic collection from the pre-war period, in order to create a database of me-mory, which collects the information on the lost physical consistency and any other data on local iden-tity. What is presented are the preliminary considerations, conducted on the verification of the first data obtained by the perspective restitution method, made possible by a small photographic set of the pre-war period, and by the interactive analyses obtained from the intertwining of the data inserted in a database specially structured for the evaluation of the lost building and any other data on local identity.
