Abstract

The paper proposes an investigation on thin-walled elements with irregular shapes, considering application to complex and warped surfaces, developed and proposed by many recent formal researches in architecture . The buckling, one of the most critical aspect in thin walled structures, is investigated. A finite-element approach, is proposed to perform buckling analyses, so as to evaluate the critical load multiplier and the critical principal compressive stress of thin-walled elements with irregular shapes.
