The magnetic domains configuration in arrays of rectangular prisms of permalloy with lateral sizes of 1100 nm x 300 nm, and 800 nm x 550 nm, inter-dot spacing of 200 nm and thickness of 30 nm, has been investigated by magnetic force microscopy (MFM) at room temperature and at zero applied magnetic field. In order to have further information on the static magnetic properties of these dots, longitudinal magneto-optical Kerr effect experiments and micro-magnetic theoretical simulations have been performed. Abstract
