The possibility of using a thin layer of concrete with tensile hardening behavior (High Performance Fiber Reinforced Cementitious Composites, HPFRCC) for strengthening R/C beams is investigated herein. In order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed solution, full scale tests have been performed on 4.55 m long beams. The obtained results show the effectiveness of the proposed technique both at ultimate and serviceability limit states. The experimental results have been modeled by means of numerical FE analysis with a commercial program (DIANA) and of an analytical approach. The comparison of the results allowed several considerations on the effect of a HPFRCC layers on existing R/C beams

Abstract
The possibility of using a thin layer of concrete with tensile hardening behavior (High Performance Fiber Reinforced Cementitious Composites, HPFRCC) for strengthening R/C beams is investigated herein. In order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed solution, full scale tests have been performed on 4.55 m long beams. The obtained results show the effectiveness of the proposed technique both at ultimate and serviceability limit states. The experimental results have been modeled by means of numerical FE analysis with a commercial program (DIANA) and of an analytical approach. The comparison of the results allowed several considerations on the effect of a HPFRCC layers on existing R/C beamsI documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
