In this paper, we present the experimental results obtained on the direct production of electrical power through the anaerobic digestion of the organic fraction of municipal solid waste (FORSU). The performance of ad-hoc built reactors have been monitored for a 28-day period and the results in terms of performance reproducibility and power production have been assessed for two groups of microbial fuel cells (MFC's), characterized by the adoption of fresh and salt water, respectively. The addition of salt has been done in order to stress negative conditions for the bacteria growing in the MFC.

Abstract
In this paper, we present the experimental results obtained on the direct production of electrical power through the anaerobic digestion of the organic fraction of municipal solid waste (FORSU). The performance of ad-hoc built reactors have been monitored for a 28-day period and the results in terms of performance reproducibility and power production have been assessed for two groups of microbial fuel cells (MFC's), characterized by the adoption of fresh and salt water, respectively. The addition of salt has been done in order to stress negative conditions for the bacteria growing in the MFC.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
