This paper deals with the aeroelastic behaviour of long-span cable-stayed bridges under approaching wind flow. The critical states of the wind-structure system are characterized through an integral approach, both in the case of fan-shaped bridges with H- and A-shaped towers. Torsional and flexural (along mean wind direction and cross-wind one) oscillations are taken into account. The overall dynamic behaviour of the bridge is reduced to that one of simple dynamic systems with equivalent stiffness properties. Furthermore, under the assumption of a prevailing truss behaviour of the structure, analytical estimations of the dominant stiffness contributions are proposed. A good agreement between the natural response of the bridge obtained via present model and the corresponding available numerical and analytical results is proved.

Abstract
A good agreement between the natural response of the bridge obtained via present model and the corresponding available numerical and analytical results is proved.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
