Aim of the present paper is the evaluation of the effectiveness of a strengthening intervention with fiber reinforced concrete (FRC) on concrete beams, both in terms of strength and ductility. In particular the behaviour of beams characterized by cross-sections in concrete with FRC layers with different thickness with and without steel reinforcement is examined with theoretical and experimental models. Furthermore the influence of the FRC properties, and then the effects of volume fiber ratio and concrete strength on the local ductility is highlighted and discussed. This study, preliminary for the analysis of more complex systems, is necessary for the definition of the materials, of their interaction and then for the global response of the composite structure.

Abstract
Aim of the present paper is the evaluation of the effectiveness of a strengthening intervention with fiber reinforced concrete (FRC) on concrete beams, both in terms of strength and ductility. In particular the behaviour of beams characterized by cross-sections in concrete with FRC layers with different thickness with and without steel reinforcement is examined with theoretical and experimental models. Furthermore the influence of the FRC properties, and then the effects of volume fiber ratio and concrete strength on the local ductility is highlighted and discussed. This study, preliminary for the analysis of more complex systems, is necessary for the definition of the materials, of their interaction and then for the global response of the composite structure.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
