In this paper we present a theoretical model which provides the ultimate plastic rotation available in shear crack hinges. The rotation capacity is evaluated by integrating the mean curvature across the cracks over the distance from the critical section, where the ultimate moment is reached, to the section where the yielding moment occurs. The influence of the shear in evaluating this distance is taken into account. A simple formula that gives the rotation capacity of shear crack hinges taking into account all the main parameters of the problem is the main contribution of the paper. This formula is compared with some analytical models and code provisions available in literature.
