In this research the shape memory effect of commercial NiTi sheets has been investigated. Four commercial SMA elements have been characterized. Tensile tests (load-unload cycles) have been performed at various constant temperatures (from room temperature up to 60 °C). Stress-strain curves have been analyzed and discussed in order to quantify the shape-recovery which has been found higher at increasing testing temperature. A study on the energy dissipation on each cycle has been carried out too and the energy absorption on the whole load-unload cycle has been found higher as the temperature increases.

Abstract
In this research the shape memory effect of commercial NiTi sheets has been investigated. Four commercial SMA elements have been characterized. Tensile tests (load-unload cycles) have been performed at various constant temperatures (from room temperature up to 60 °C). Stress-strain curves have been analyzed and discussed in order to quantify the shape-recovery which has been found higher at increasing testing temperature. A study on the energy dissipation on each cycle has been carried out too and the energy absorption on the whole load-unload cycle has been found higher as the temperature increases.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
