Among scholars of the economic dynamics and scholars of knowledge there is currently a relative convergence about the innovation processes: in studies on technology and innovation as foundation for economic development, emerge as key factors the presence of formal and informal organizations, in which either individuals or groups or collective actors operate by exchanging knowledge and interacting in a synergic and complementary way, according to constructive and complementary models, more and more on a territorial basis. Technological Districts (TD) as developed in Italian experience, are presented here as instruments of innovation policies at the territorial level.
