Numerical models for the evaluation of the crack evolution in concrete ties are presented in the paper. The paper is framed in a wider research, in development at the Rome University “Tor Vergata”, aiming at verifying possible solutions for limiting the crack opening in reinforced concrete structures. Following follow an experimental campaign, carried out by some of the authors, a reference reinforced concrete ties and a concrete tie with skin reinforcement made by a fiberglass mesh are modelled. The main aim is the evaluation of the effectiveness of this technique in reducing the crack width. At this aim, the crack pattern and the crack opening are evaluated, and the obtained results are compared with experimental and analytical ones.

Abstract
Numerical models for the evaluation of the crack evolution in concrete ties are presented in the paper. The paper is framed in a wider research, in development at the Rome University “Tor Vergata”, aiming at verifying possible solutions for limiting the crack opening in reinforced concrete structures. Following follow an experimental campaign, carried out by some of the authors, a reference reinforced concrete ties and a concrete tie with skin reinforcement made by a fiberglass mesh are modelled. The main aim is the evaluation of the effectiveness of this technique in reducing the crack width. At this aim, the crack pattern and the crack opening are evaluated, and the obtained results are compared with experimental and analytical ones.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
