This paper draws on a recent provision which, after amending the regulation of project work, provides some exceptions for “the direct sell of goods and services made through outbound call centres”. This seems to counter the position of law-makers on this issue, as the new provision favours the use of project work contracts in call centres, although posing some questions in terms of implementation. The paper makes an attempt to review the current legal framework; attention is paid to the fact that the provision gives much latitude when it comes to the definition and the identification of the foregoing exceptions, especially in relation to the general provisions regulating project work contracts. Reference is also made to social partners and early collective agreements concluded in this sector also at national level, following these recent developments.
