The parodos of Sophocles’ Oedipus Coloneus shows extraordinary characteristics in lenght, structure, performance, action and in the metrical form; the metric rules the movements on the stage and explains the emotion of the players. This work analizes theatrical, structural and metrical elements. The interaction of all elements makes this parodos a powerful and original performance. Sophocles employs several different formal structures, giving to the audience in his last tragedy a masterpiece of his dramatic art.
