The targets of my Ph.D. studies are the analysis and the realization of Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) localization algorithms. The localization of people and things, in Indoor or Outdoor environment, is affected by an amount of different problems that span from the telecommunications limits, due to the different technologies used to obtain the position information (GPS, UWB, WLAN, Bluetooth, etc.), to the mathematics limits, represented by the nature of the localization problem. Localization is a non linear problem, to solve it are developed different techniques centred to its linearization (Cap. 3 and Cap. 4). In this way the engineers obtain a simplification of the problem and have the opportunity to use limited computation devices like microcontrollers, FPGA or DSP to implement a solution of the localization problem. In this work we do not propose a mathematic non linear solution of the localization problem, but we want to show a new way to solve a non linear problem avoiding its linearization (Cap.4). This work is organized as follow: • A short discussion about the WSN, underlining the characteristic of the WSNs centred to solve the localization problems (Cap. 1). - • An overview about the related works developed to realize a localization network (Cap. 2). - • The realization of localization algorithm centred to the reduction of the error propagation in the network (Cap. 3). - • An easy way to realize a “non linear solution” of the localization problem. - • The analysis of the behaviour of WSN equipped with the Ultra Wide Band (UWB) technology (Cap. 5)
