Sutures play an essential role both in the evolution of the craniomaxillo-facial complex and in orthognatodontic therapy.The study of their characteristics is very important for the comprehension of this role.In the present research we carried out observations on the craniofacial sutures with particular attention to the characteristics of growth and to the anatomic,histologic and biochemical aspect.In particular our histologic studies show that the sutures are able to answer to the external forces.
