Jean-Baptiste René Robinet (1735-1820)was an important figure of french Enlightenment, at the age of the Encyclopédie. His work and life is not yet known, in the context of mid-eighteenth century culture. The historical studies about this "philosophe" has shown only a little part of his intellectual production. This essay try to give an account of all the Robinet's works, above all his researches into the life sciences ("De la nature") and his second edition of the Encyclopédie (1777-1782), by the publisher Panckoucke.
