This Essay aims to describe the method and style of Diderot's art critic, a new genre of litterary and philosophical writings, which Diderot usher in european culture and philosophy. From his "epistemological" origins to the poetical, theatrical and litterary issues, Diderot's criticism is a well known type of "novel" about pictures, that becomes itself an "oeuvre d'art", in competition with his model. In Diderot's aesthetics, like the organic being, the works of art imitate the works of Nature.
