It has been proposed a link between previous infections and the development of acute ischemic stroke. The pathophysiologic meaning of this link is currently unclear. We propose that alterations in leukocyte rheology, induced by the infection may trigger the development of ischemic events in patients with predisposing conditions.

Abstract

It has been proposed a link between previous infections and the development of acute ischemic stroke. The pathophysiologic meaning of this link is currently unclear.
