In the present paper we develop one proposal in our overview about satellite positioning in railways published some months ago on ERR [1], improving Railway Emergency Call (REC) functionality through the use of the future Galileo satellite positioning system. In particular we propose a high-level system architecture capable of transmitting very accurate train position information while producing REC towards Trackside Manager (TM).
