Fatigue life prediction of spot welded structures is an hard task. Spot welds would require a fine meshing next to each of them. This is an overwhelming task for automotive structures, where several hundreds of spot welds do exist. In this paper a modelling criterion is presented. Its main advantage is to make it possible to achieve accurate solution with a rough modelling of the spot region. The key point is the introduction of a spot element based on a analytic solution of the spot region, which can be easily post-processed.
