This paper examines the Celestinian Forgiveness as an urban eventscape and a device of territorialization, where sacred ritual, cultural heritage and tourism-oriented festivalisation intersect. Drawing on cultural geography and territorialist approaches, the event is interpreted as a spatial practice that produces meanings, identities and forms of collective belonging, contributing to place-making processes. Focusing on post-earthquake L’Aquila, the article analyses how mediatization, heritagization and performative re-appropriation of public space have transformed the Forgiveness into a form of territorial capital, supporting symbolic regeneration and new imaginaries of resilience. At the same time, it highlights tensions between cultural valorisation, touristic attractiveness and the safeguarding of ritual authenticity, framing urban eventscapes as both opportunities for place-based development and arenas of symbolic negotiation.

Abstract
At the same time, it highlights tensions between cultural valorisation, touristic attractiveness and the safeguarding of ritual authenticity, framing urban eventscapes as both opportunities for place-based development and arenas of symbolic negotiation.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
