Spectroscopic and kinetic studies have been performed to investigate the inclusion of cationic porphyrin monomers into micelles formed by anionic surfactants with different chain lengths. From the results, a possible mechanism for the porphyrin inclusion process can be proposed, highlighting the prominent role of the apolar inner domain of the micelles, and corroborating the scenario in which the hydrophobic effect is the main driving force for the macrocycle inclusion in these confined systems.

Abstract

Spectroscopic and kinetic studies have been performed to investigate the inclusion of cationic porphyrin monomers into micelles formed by anionic surfactants with different chain lengths.
