This chapter examines the development of international regulation for air traffic management. It considers the previous 1919 Paris Convention and the relevant provisions of the 1944 Chicago Convention on International Civil Aviation, also focusing on the measures adopted by the European Union concerning ATM. In particular, the contribution examines the original 2004 European Community Regulations establishing the Single European Sky, the innovations introduced by Regulation (EC) 2009/1070 (commonly referred to as SES II, no longer in force), and, above all, the new Regulation (EU) 2024/2803 on the implementation of the Single European Sky (SES II+). Furthermore Regulation (EU) 2018/1139, with the relevant role of EASA, will also be examined
