In this chapter we mean to outline a conceptual framework to analyze and describe the relevance of ruins and the role they play in our current understanding of the built environment, and of heritage, and how this might possibly evolve in the future. The theoretical foundation for this framework primarily relies on the aesthetics of atmospheres, as it has been conceptualized by Hermann Schmitz and Gernot Böhme, and in our own previous work on the subject.

Abstract
In this chapter we mean to outline a conceptual framework to analyze and describe the relevance of ruins and the role they play in our current understanding of the built environment, and of heritage, and how this might possibly evolve in the future. The theoretical foundation for this framework primarily relies on the aesthetics of atmospheres, as it has been conceptualized by Hermann Schmitz and Gernot Böhme, and in our own previous work on the subject.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
