The essay examines divergences in the attribution of several Sicilian compositions as transmitted in the early lyric anthologies: Palatine ms (BNCF, Banco Rari 217), Vatican ms (Vat. lat. 3793) and Laurentian ms Redi 9. It further analyzes specific organizational and codicological features of Vat. lat. 3793 and Laurenziano Redi 9, which may indicate that, in their Sicilian antecedent, the poems were – at least in part – arranged according to the alphabetical order of the initial letter of the incipit, as is the case of the Palatine ms.
