This volume examines the structural link between war and Italian fascism, interpreting the entire trajectory of the regime in light of its origins in the experience of World War I and its conclusion in the context of World War II. Starting from the hypothesis that war, in its imagined, desired, planned, and ultimately fought dimensions, was a founding element of the fascist mentality and political action, the essays collected here analyze the formation of a political culture centered on violence and the annihilation of the enemy, as well as the regime's project of militarizing society. Particular attention is paid to the many forms of expansionism and military projection implemented by Benito Mussolini's government from the mid-1930s until the end of the regime. By reconstructing this indissoluble link with war, the volume offers a reinterpretation of the history and interpretations of Italian fascism, while also providing a broader reflection on the relationship between national history and its persistent vocation for war.

Abstract
By reconstructing this indissoluble link with war, the volume offers a reinterpretation of the history and interpretations of Italian fascism, while also providing a broader reflection on the relationship between national history and its persistent vocation for war.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
