Luciani, Considerazioni intorno alla ΔΙΗΓΗΣΙΣ ΣΥΝΟΠΤΙΚΗ ΚΑΡΟΛΟΥ ΤΟΥ Ε΄ di Giovanni Acciaiuoli (XVI sec.)

Purpose of this essay is to bring to the attention of critics an unfairly neglected poetic work in the Modern Greek literary landscape. It is the greek 16th century poem by Giovanni Acciaiuoli, entitled "A Brief History of Charles V", which, despite its intrinsic value, has been all but forgotten. The only scholar who, to date, had devoted some attention to the work was Giorgio Zoras, who, in 1953, provided an initial critical exploration of it. Subsequently, the same scholar edited the first critical edition of the text, accompanying it with a philological and hermeneutical commentary. Here we attempt an analysis of the most important points that characterize this work, in the description of the subject matter and its literary implications.
