Abstract

This article aims toexplore the relationship between oral historymethodologies applied to live performance and the transmission of theatrical knowledge tonew generations. The first part of the paper, authored byDonatella Orecchia, will intertwine research and teaching practices, clarifying the theoretical and methodological framework and identifying key issues, such as the importance of oral memory, to illuminate the complexities of ephemeral theatre, and oral sources, considered here as repositories of theatrical knowledge, toexplore the centrality of experiential narratives, and the multiplicity of perspectives in constructing the memory of live performance. In this context, the experience of 12 young university students engaging with the cultural and artistic legacy of Luca Ronconi can serve as a particularly interesting example of a project able to intertwine research and teaching, in which memory is constructed and inherited. In line with this, the second part of the paper, authored by Arianna Morganti, will explore specific aspects of that experience and will include a partial analysis of the audio documents uploaded to the “Patrimonio Orale” platform. Therefore, this paper will illustrate how practices of oral memory and the use of oral sources can be used toexplore the lasting memoryofamaster likeLuca Ronconi, addressing the issue of knowledge transmission
