The development of web 2.0 and other Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) are creating a revolution in the way in which information is produced and shared among different interest groups and individuals. How are these trends affecting the statistical world? In this paper, we will first discuss where the valued added of statistics comes from. Then we will deal with the way in which information is spread in society and how ICT tools are changing the paradigm of “societal knowledge building”.
