The question of corruption in the relations between Ragusans and Ottoman officials is not an issue that was hidden at the time and only came to light ex post in contemporary research. As in other cases, Ragusan documents contain several accounts of different kinds of extortion practices applied by Ottoman officials, especially regarding trade-related issues. The chapter aims to highlight the characteristics of corrupt transactions between tra actors (Ragusans and Ottomans) in the Bosnian pashadom during the 17th century.
