In the history of theatre, stage costumes are one of the fundamental elements in the creation of scenographic composition. From the masks, the heterodoxy of the skins converted into the Saturnalia costume, the fabrics as a support for the event as a narrative chronicle, the armor of the tournaments, the dress as a metaphor, alternative duplicity of the character he wore, another skin with life of its own, right up to avant-garde abstraction, we have knowledge of all this from the beginning of the first civilizations to the present day, as can be seen in the interesting studies presented in this monographic volume of the ASPA journal.
