The volume presents a reasoned anthology of a research strand that has explored 'urban atmospheres' in recent decades. The idea is that cities possess a specific quality, a 'skin' that does not manifest solely in the landscapes they offer. Each city indeed has its own atmosphere, composed not only of a specific physical and spatial environment but also of a set of social behaviors and relational styles. Walking, traversing the city means experientially and physically engaging with these atmospheres, reading them as a language. As a result of a perceptual process, of an experience, urban atmospheres appear and disappear; they are not tangible things, but they still have a particular mode of existence, influencing not only the way the city is lived but also revealing certain qualities, certain specificities. The text translates, for the first time into Italian, some of the most important contributions on the subject and is directed not only at philosophers and sociologists but also at architects and urban planners, as well as all travelers who wish to reflect on the meaning of their specific urban experience."

Abstract
The text translates, for the first time into Italian, some of the most important contributions on the subject and is directed not only at philosophers and sociologists but also at architects and urban planners, as well as all travelers who wish to reflect on the meaning of their specific urban experience."I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
