The Second World War caused irreversible damage to the city of Palestrina, especially in the areas adjacent to the Sanctuary of Fortuna. The restoration work, associated with archaeological investigations, aimed at “maximum conservation” and respect for the stratified urban reality. This paper illustrates phases and criteria of this work in the light of the relationship with the post-war reconstruction plan and the visceral relationship between the city and its archaeological sites.

Abstract
The Second World War caused irreversible damage to the city of Palestrina, especially in the areas adjacent to the Sanctuary of Fortuna. The restoration work, associated with archaeological investigations, aimed at “maximum conservation” and respect for the stratified urban reality. This paper illustrates phases and criteria of this work in the light of the relationship with the post-war reconstruction plan and the visceral relationship between the city and its archaeological sites.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
