Rome has alternated between positive and cautious approaches toward such events over time. In particular, the Jubilee, whether in its regular or extraordinary programming, demands a planning approach that balances Rome’s identity as both a capital and an apostolic seat. The Jubilee 2025 offers an opportunity to rethink and regenerate the urban development of Rome, not only in the central neighbourhoods but also in the peripheries. This contribution focuses on the urban planning project for Jubilee 2025, with particular emphasis on the southeastern quadrant of the city, to evaluate whether the proposed actions can effectively address the socio-territorial challenges faced by areas such as Tor Vergata and Tor Bella Monaca.

L'importanza dei grandi eventi per lo sviluppo territoriale di Roma evidenzia come questi abbiano influenzato le scelte di pianificazione urbana nel corso della storia. Roma ha alternato, nel tempo, approcci positivi e cauti nei confronti di tali eventi. In particolare, il Giubileo, sia nella sua programmazione ordinaria che straordinaria, richiede un approccio di pianificazione capace di bilanciare l’identità di Roma come capitale e come sede apostolica. Il Giubileo 2025 rappresenta un’occasione per ripensare e rigenerare lo sviluppo urbano di Roma, non solo nei quartieri centrali ma anche nelle periferie. Questo contributo si concentra sul progetto di pianificazione urbana per il Giubileo 2025, con particolare attenzione al quadrante sud-orientale della città, per valutare se le azioni proposte possano affrontare efficacemente le sfide socio-territoriali di aree come Tor Vergata e Tor Bella Monaca.
