No one should go to war anyhow, or for any reason. The Just War tradition advocates peace and respect for human life, enemy or friend. Its criteria of justice provide guidance for limiting the natural evil of war. The fact that just war criteria of legitimacy can be flouted or ignored does not mean that they do not exist. These are criteria of moderation and love that impose limits on military actions. They awaken in us this human truth: the war of the (bestial) desires of domination must never prevail against the justice of war, at the risk otherwise of losing our humanity.

Abstract
No one should go to war anyhow, or for any reason. The Just War tradition advocates peace and respect for human life, enemy or friend. Its criteria of justice provide guidance for limiting the natural evil of war. The fact that just war criteria of legitimacy can be flouted or ignored does not mean that they do not exist. These are criteria of moderation and love that impose limits on military actions. They awaken in us this human truth: the war of the (bestial) desires of domination must never prevail against the justice of war, at the risk otherwise of losing our humanity.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
