La Giornata della Memoria nella stampa italiana 2012-2023

The Institutionalization of Memory: its Reflections in the Italian Press, 2012-2023 · The subject of this article is the study of the representation of the Shoah through selected articles in major Italian newspapers in the days close to Holocaust Remembrance Day and analyzed in two blocks about ten years apart. The newspaper articles reviewed here, create and disseminate symbolic meanings, are an arena of clash and confrontation, and are themselves public spheres and activators of memory. The analysis, critically following Maurice Halbwachs’ insight, highlights the role of the media as a space of mediation and negotiation that dialogues with the past but aims at interpreting the present.
