The report intends to focus on the image of the river as a "frontier," but also as a specific connotation of a people and as a space for setting of a journey tied to the history of the Kingdom of Naples in the eighteenth century. The sources of information, unpublished, will be documents and memories related to the inspection trip to Abruzzo operated by Giuseppe Maria Galanti, intellectual and enlightened reformer who worked in Naples, on behalf of King Ferdinand IV at the dawn of the Neapolitan Revolution which lead to the recognition of a strong connection between hydrographic and geomorphologic elements and agrarian and physiognomic evidence. We therefore speak of Abruzzo rivers (Tronto River, the Velino) and of the identity of the rivers, therefore, seen as the border line, but also as an expression of recognition of a people, the Abruzzo, which is identified in its waters and in the elements and products of the land, defining and giving substance to a "new order of things ", and thus opening the field to custom reflections, as well as political, economic, demographic and anthropological considerations.

Abstract
We therefore speak of Abruzzo rivers (Tronto River, the Velino) and of the identity of the rivers, therefore, seen as the border line, but also as an expression of recognition of a people, the Abruzzo, which is identified in its waters and in the elements and products of the land, defining and giving substance to a "new order of things ", and thus opening the field to custom reflections, as well as political, economic, demographic and anthropological considerations.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
