Vico e il senso comune estetico

In this paper the author argues that Vico’s aesthetics could be called an aesthetics of (common) feeling, deeply rooted in the body and in its «beautiful» faculties (sense, memory, imagination, ingenuity). In such an aesthetic conception, the common sense represents, on the one hand, the certainty on which the common coexistence of men is grounded, and, on the other, an aesthetic-intersubjective principle of reference, that becomes central in the new philosophical discipline of the eighteenth century called «aesthetics», which Vico – together with Kant although in different ways – contributed to establish.
