Knowledge and respect are the essential combination to guarantee targeted restoration works of the architectural heritage, but also the planning of enhancement interventions capable of giving new life to the buildings and guaranteeing their conservation in full respect of their artistic significance, of the material value and specific architectural connotations. This contribution presents the results of some restoration research experiences conducted in the Roman and Lazio area in the decade 2012-2022, at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Rome Tor Vergata. Some archaeological sites of Tivoli and Palestrina, churches, palaces, as well as so-called minor buildings, villages and historic centers of Lazio, theory and practice of architectural restoration have been illustrated using a unique method of investigation, based on principles and guidelines operative of the Italian restoration. The research, carried out in collaboration with a number of Italian prestigious Research Organisations and Superintendencies has been deepened in the drafting of degree and doctoral theses, also touching on the complex problem of the relationship between historic buildings and plant adaptation. The results achieved, some published, demonstrate the usefulness of a possible coexistence between historical-artistic sensitivity, technical knowledge and new uses of the architectural heritage.

Abstract
The results achieved, some published, demonstrate the usefulness of a possible coexistence between historical-artistic sensitivity, technical knowledge and new uses of the architectural heritage.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
