The paper examines the relationship woven by Father Sebastiano Resta (Milan, 1635 - Rome, 1714) with the figure of Leonardo da Vinci, making use of the copious Resta’s material collected up to now on the subject: his marginal notes to the sources of the art historiography, Vasari above all; his comments on the drawings included in albums, mostly identified; his correspondence. It emerges the leading role played by the oratorian collector, also thanks to his numerous and heterogeneous contacts, in the reception, re-evaluation and fortune of Leonardo and his school between the second half of the 17th century and the beginning of the 18th century, on a critical and historiographic level as well as on the front of collecting and connoisseurship.
