This comparative chapter addresses the approach to property rights of the European Union (from now on EU), the European Convention on Human Rights (from now on ECHR), and the legal regime for the protection of foreign investors (which we will refer to in general as International Investment Law, thus from now on IIL). The work’s purpose is not only to compare legal systems from a merely abstract point of view and a theoretical perspective but also to highlight the major issues raised by major case studies.
