Il rapporto tra ruolo del giurista ed enucleazione di un processo più giusto è stato ora illuminato da un recente ritrovamento di una raffigurazione pittorica in una villa romana del I sec. a.C. dove si attribuisce alla famiglia dei Mucii Scevolae la elaborazione della formula al si paret. Si tratta, al di là delle difficili criticità di ricostruzione del contesto originario della formula Mucii Scevolae, la nuova fonte è un indizio della partecipazione dei giuristi romani alla creazione di un processo a Roma antica più giusto.
