A rigid ferrocene-fullerene dyad was obtained from fullerene (C-60), N-methylglycine and 1,1'-(alpha-oxotrimethylene)ferrocene. The frozen geometry resulted in an enhanced electron transfer rate from ferrocene to fullerene moieties, when compared with conformationally flexible N-methyl-2-ferrocenylfulleropyrrolidine.
