Dal Barocco al Barocco : Vico e Gracián

If the reflection of Baltasar Gracián initiates the Baroque period focusing on the cognitive value of ingenuity and metaphor, the thought of Giambattista Vico represents the philosophical culmination of that extraordinary cultural experience named Baroque. It is based precisely on ingenuity, that is, on the creative and inventive faculty par excellence,which is able to find new relationships between things and to formulate unexpected insights from habitual thought patterns, putting together and re-elaborating also known materials. An experience we should look at today in order to enrich our impoverished current ways of thinking.
