In Philoctetes Sophocles composes with mastery the emotional language of the protagonist and designes a rhythmical structure for the different moods, enhancing the expressive potential of the interaction between word and meter. In this work we analyze the forms of versification – extra metrum, antilabe, non-lyrical and lyrical meters – of some significant sections that are useful to better reconstruct and understand the winding and dramatic path assigned by Sophocles to Philoctetes.

Abstract
In Philoctetes Sophocles composes with mastery the emotional language of the protagonist and designes a rhythmical structure for the different moods, enhancing the expressive potential of the interaction between word and meter. In this work we analyze the forms of versification – extra metrum, antilabe, non-lyrical and lyrical meters – of some significant sections that are useful to better reconstruct and understand the winding and dramatic path assigned by Sophocles to Philoctetes.File in questo prodotto:
